The Beaver Countian has launched a revamped version of its mobile website. The redesign comes at a time when over half of this publication’s readers now use mobile devices to access our content. previously maintained two separate versions of its website, each with unique designs – one that was shown to users visiting from a desktop computer and another shown to users visiting from tablets or smartphones. The new design now provides readers with a unified experience no matter what device they may use to read and interact with our content.

The design now automatically optimizes the size of images, text, and the number of columns displayed on a page, depending on the screen size of the device being used to access the website.

Along with a consistent design interface, the new mobile site also offers visitors with features previously only available to desktop users, including access to our community events calendar, our expanding discussion forums, weather, site search, and convenient ways to view the latest comments and posts submitted by other readers. The redesign also includes access to national and international news, along with columns on art, entertainment, and science through our new content partnership with The Guardian newspaper.

The desktop version of also saw the introduction of several new enhancements to complement the new mobile version.

Over 34,700 unique readers regularly access using a smartphone or tablet. The most commonly used mobile devices were the Apple iPhone, followed by the Apple iPad, the Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones, and the Motorola Razr series.

The Beaver Countian will be unveiling several new features, including increased local news coverage and “location aware” content in the near future. regularly reaches in excess of 50,000 individual readers with over 17,360 followers on its Facebook page.
