Ohioville Mayor John Szatkiewicz and his long time live-in girlfriend Linda Tice were in the courthouse yesterday, filing for a Protection From Abuse Order against Tice’s daughter, Theresa Leake.
Mayor Szatkiewicz was arrested by Ohioville Police on Thursday on allegations he assaulted the woman and then tried to prevent her from calling 911 for help. He is facing charges including simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of an emergency call. Police say Szatkiewicz beat the woman’s head off of a doorjamb several times before placing one of his hands around her throat and another over her mouth and nose while telling her, “This is how I was trained to kill people.”
“My daughter is constantly abusive to me, has threatened to bust out my windows & break my doors,” wrote Linda Tice in her applications for a PFA yesterday. “I own the house jointly with John Szatkiewicz & Theresa assaulted him yesterday. I am afraid for my safety & believe she will harm me.”
“We came home and found Terri had her mothers computer cable then started to rant & rave I told her I wanted her to leave,” wrote Mayor John Szatkiewicz in his PFA application. “I took her cell phone outside so she would follow me out then I could lock her out then she bit my hand that held the phone and pulled me down on the porch.”
Magisterial District Judge Tim Finn granted a temporary PFA to the couple, and ordered Theresa Leake evicted from the home. A hearing on whether a permanent PFA will be granted is scheduled for next week.
A preliminary hearing on the criminal charges against Mayor John Szatkiewicz is scheduled for August 15th at 9:00am in Courtroom #3 of the Beaver County Courthouse. Acting Ohioville Police Chief Mark Alan Smilek is now listed as the lead charging officer in the case.
