Michael Allen J. Barbuto, 18, of Center Township, has been charged by Hopewell Township police with felony criminal homicide for the July 15 shooting of his brother, Vincent Shawn Barbuto.

Investigators allege digital forensic evidence, surveillance videos, and records from a home security system, allowed them to identify Michael as his brother’s killer.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, on Wednesday, July 15, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Hopewell Township police were dispatched to 2412 West Main Street for a call of an unresponsive man who “appeared to be bleeding from an unknown location.”

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with the caller, Mariel Guzma, the victim’s girlfriend. The woman told police she discovered Vincent laying unresponsive at the bottom of the basement stairs.

The man’s body was found to be cold by medics and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office determined he had died from gun shot wounds to the chest.
