Official: Ambridge School District Erupting Into “Chaos” – Superintendent Says She’s Leaving

Two Ambridge Area School District officials told BeaverCountian.com this week that board members were previously made to sign nondisclosure agreements (NDA) preventing them from openly discussing district issues with the media.

Currently, those issues allegedly include the discovery of a $1.5 million budget shortfall, according to both officials who spoke on condition they not be quoted by name.

They also claimed district Superintendent Joan Welter informed the board last week that she intends to leave at the end of the school year, and the board is preparing to oust the lawfirm of Weiss Burkardt Kramer which acts as its solicitor.

“The district is in chaos and the public doesn’t know it,” one said.

Sounds to me like the people of Ambridge need to go and clean house of that entire administration. If you’ve got someone telling elected officials that they either sign an NDA that prohibits you from discussing matters of public interest with the public, then that person is the definition of corruption and needs removed.

You would think that the people running this school district could keep track of money coming in and going out. They keep spending more than they take in every year.

Too many “takers”, and not enough “makers”…

Far too many people that are on welfare, free lunches, etc. WHO is paying for them all? Yep!
The people that pay the taxes!

This whole county is that way!,,

How is the superintendent telling the board what to do? I thought the board oversaw the superintendent to keep him or her in check? And the district wonders why families are sending their children to charter schools in droves….🙄

Well, when you don’t belong in the position, you allow this type of nonsense to go on because you don’t know any better!

The district is in such a bad way it’s not even funny anymore. The highest school taxes and they just keep raising them! Board members saying get the tax increases while we can even if not needed, awarding contracts to ”friends” holding on to real estate and paying hundreds of thousands to maintain it instead of selling it, the list goes on and on! Incompetent administration at the High School. We need some sort of oversight because we can’t seem to elect anyone competent let alone hire a competent administration. Then people elect folks like Kowal who hasn’t done anything but raise taxes on the school board to Borough Council in Economy so he can vote to raise taxes twice a year on us!
