A man recruited by Democratic Sheriff George David to run as a Republican against incumbent Democratic County Controller David Rossi has dropped out of the race. The announcement by professional boxer Josh Himes comes just days after the Beaver Countian interviewed him about his candidacy.
Josh Himes sent the Beaver Countian the following statement:
“First off, I’d like to thank everyone for all of their support! I realize at this time with such short notice on the election, it wouldn’t be in my nature to pursue further. Anything I do in life I like to commit 100% fully, with all my heart. I truly want to see beaver county grow an (sic) become a better community. With that said, if I cannot give all I have then I would not be doing any justice to the county. I think it would be in my best interest to pull my name out of the candidacy, and push for the best candidates in the other positions. Therefore I can stay in the political field, and help beaver county choose the best fit for us to grow as a whole. In the meantime, I’ll further educate myself in politics to prepare much better for the next election. Once again, thank you all!”
