U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-17) is a co-sponsor of a new bill that would strip data centers of two federal tax breaks.
The Reverse Big Ugly Tax Breaks for Data Centers Act, led by U.S. Reps. Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-Michigan) and Don Davis (D-North Carolina), would bar data centers from claiming the 100 percent bonus depreciation deduction and make them ineligible for Opportunity Zone tax benefits. Deluzio’s office announced his support Sept 22, saying the bill was introduced the week before.
Both breaks are available to data center developers under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the tax and spending law Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed in 2025. That law also cut Medicaid and SNAP food assistance.
“Let’s repeal these giveaways and get our government focused on making sure hard work delivers the good life that people have earned,” Deluzio said.
More than 20 other House Democrats are listed as co-sponsors, including U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-4) of Montgomery County.
