Beaver Borough Council will vote Tuesday evening on whether to move forward with an ordinance that would eliminate its wards and shrink its council — a potentially dramatic reshaping of local government.
Under the proposal, Beaver’s council would drop from nine members to seven, with officials elected borough-wide instead of from three separate wards. State law dictates the reduction to seven members if the ward system is abolished, according to Beaver Borough Solicitor Garen Fedeles, who also serves as Beaver County solicitor.
