As employees of Beaver County’s Department of Public Works were preparing to move thousands of boxes of records from an underground storage facility in Wampum to a new location in Brighton Township, they came across something unexpected mixed in with dog license paperwork: human remains.

A county employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, contacted BeaverCountian.com expressing dismay about the undignified way unclaimed remains were being stored by county government.

“So there was a pallet with boxes of dog license paperwork on it, and mixed in with that was a plastic tote that had bodies (cremated human remains) in it,” said the individual.
