Republicans have lost majority control of Beaver County government as one of two GOP commissioners officially changed his voter registration to Independent. Commissioner Jack Manning stunned his fellow elected Republicans at a recent political strategy meeting, announcing he may run as an Independent against a potential Republican candidate for commissioner next year.
The Beaver County Board of Commissioners now consists of Republican Dan Camp, Democrat Tony Amadio, and independent Manning.
Manning first ran for Beaver County Commissioner as an Independent candidate in 2011, but ultimately lost his election. He ran again in 2019, this time as a Republican. Manning won that election, joining incumbent commissioner Dan Camp as part of the Republican majority of the Board in 2020. He was reelected in 2023 to a second term that expires in January 2028.
