JP, thank you for the self edit on the headline referencing the sheriffs most recently reported misdeeds. Appreciate your efforts at providing an unfettered forum where views can be expressed free of censorship, and the news, raw and ugly as it sometimes is, be reported as it happens.
Having said that, let me make 2 points.
I think you’ll be better served holding yourself to a higher standard than your readers. Quite frankly I make judgments about posters and the validity of their remarks in part at least by their use of language. Appreciate that coarse language properly placed can serve as a tool to shock and alert, but my reference is the gratuitous use of vulgar and profane words by some. You’re better than that.
Secondly, there are some words so vile that they ought never appear in print where the general public has access to the writing. That word is one of them, and this is an article that I would have forwarded to others but stopped short because I did not wish to be associated in any way with the use of that word. By the way, having observed the sheriff from a distance for over 30 years, I’ve no doubt that the events described happened exactly as reported.
Respect and admire the work you are doing, and understand the desire not to impose community standards. Unless your view is one of anarchism, I think that a little self editing entirely appropriate. Regards.
