Andrew Marvich, 23 of Beaver Falls, waived his right to a preliminary hearing today on charges including Homicide by Vehicle While Driving Under the Influence and Involuntary Manslaughter. Marvich was allegedly intoxicated last July when police say his vehicle struck another car driven by Jessica Kolback, 18 of Beaver — The resulting crash on Interstate 376 near the Tuscarawas Road overpass killed the passenger in Kolback’s car, Carlee Houghtelin, 18 of Brighton Township. The girls were both seniors at Beaver Area High School.

Both Kolback and her family, along with the Houghtelin family, were in court to watch the brief proceeding. As Marvich left Courtroom 3 with his attorney, Kolback came screaming out of the door behind him.

“I hate you” the teenage girl yelled as she began rushing toward Marvich. She was quickly grabbed and held in a bear hug by family members, and began crying uncontrollably as a State Trooper and Sheriff’s Deputy walked them from the area. Sources say Marvich was also seen in tears after the emotional encounter.

A plea deal between prosecutors and the defense has not been reached, and the case remains on track for trial.

  1. Wow….those poor families. Just either find him guilty or plea so they can move on already

  2. I hate drunk drivers with every ounce of my being. They all need to rot in hell.
