Frame capture from footage of the attack.
Ambridge Acting Police Chief Jimmy Mann tells the Beaver Countian it is “One of the most brutal, senseless acts of violence that I’ve seen since I’ve been in law enforcement.”
In the video, a teenager can be seen mercilessly assaulting a junior high school student. The victim can be heard screaming “Stop, please stop” as he suffered repeated kicks to his face and head. Two other boys stood by watching the attack as a third recorded it — One laughed as he provided a play-by-play to someone over the phone “Yo he’s stomping his face in, he’s stomping his face in right now [...] Hurry up, run down here, run down here and see it!”
Police say the attack appears to have been planned in advance.
Video of the incident has since been removed from YouTube, but the Beaver Countian was able to obtain a copy from the site before it was deleted.
In another video uploaded to YouTube by the same individual, two teens can be seen playing Call of Duty (a popular first-person shooter video game) while bragging about their drug use and making anti-semitic and misogynistic remarks.
Ambridge police have charged one juvenile with first-degree felony Aggravated Assault and Criminal Mischief as a result of the incident. That teen is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility. A second juvenile was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, a third-degree felony, then released to the custody of his parents.
The teenager attacked in the video had emergency CAT scans performed following the attack, and is now staying with out-of-town relatives. He is said to be recovering from his injuries.
Due to their ages, the Beaver Countian is not publishing the names of any of those involved in the incident.
The following video contains graphic footage showing actual acts of violence.
Juvenile justice policies on adjudicating minors accused of violent crimes are currently a matter of public debate in Pennsylvania and across the nation. The Beaver Countian feels the following footage, although disturbing, has value as part of that dialogue. It is for this reason, we have made the editorial decision to publish it.
The Beaver Countian resized and reformatted this video after obtaining it from YouTube. We have also removed several seconds of extraneous footage following the attack which identified juveniles by name.
