The Beaver Countian and WBVP/WMBA radio are teaming up to create daily news radio broadcasts and internet podcasts.
The “Inside Scoop” will air Monday through Friday during the noon news hour on WBVP/WMBA radio, and will be made available online soon after for premium subscribers of BeaverCountian.com
The show will be hosted by John Paul of the Beaver Countian, and will feature the type of original reporting that has made the site so popular.
“The Inside Scoop is going to enhance WBVP and WMBA’s commitment to providing great local content,” said Station Manager Mark Peterson. “John Paul’s persistent and relentless efforts to investigate and gather news stories from right here in Beaver County are well documented — we feel this partnership is a tremendous opportunity to ultimately make more information available to more people in our own backyard. That’s what this business is all about.”
Along with providing news to the stations’ listeners, the Beaver Countian has also committed to helping WBVP/WMBA deliver their content in new ways to new audiences. “These radio stations are some of the top producers of hyperlocal content in the area,” said John Paul, founder of the Beaver Countian. “A.M. radio still has a loyal following, but far more important than just their role as a distribution vehicle, is their decades of experience in keeping the people of Beaver County entertained and well informed. I look forward to helping these radio stations bring that award winning content online over the coming months.”
“This is an exciting thing for our two vastly different media companies,” agreed Mark Peterson. “On one hand, you have a set of 65 year old traditional A.M. community radio stations. On the other hand is a high tech, modern, mobile and on demand information delivery system that didn’t even exist fifteen years ago. While the methods are at opposite ends of the spectrum, we are amazingly similar in the desire to cater to and inform residents of Beaver County.”
The first episode of the “Inside Scoop” will air Monday, October 7th at 12:35pm on 1230 WBVP / 1460 WMBA. The episode will be made available in podcast format on BeaverCountain.com shortly after its broadcast.
